Legion Members Rick and Pat Witherspoon
At our regular meeting on August 3, Legion Branch 202 initiated Rick and Pat Witherspoon. Welcome, Rick & Pat! We hope that you will participate in all our Legion activities including sports.

The Fish Fry that we had on August 2 was a success, thank you to all Legion and Non Members in helping out, the fish was excellent.

Also in August we made a donation of $2,426.00 to the Peninsula Family Health Clinic for new equipment.

We were saddened by the passing of a longtime Member Alfonso (Alf) Myer at Golden Dawn, Lions Head. A Legion Service was performed by our Padre, Chad Honneyman, at the funeral home.

Ken Diebel with the nine bags of pop tabs
that were collected by Tobermory, Lion’s
Head and Wiarton Legions.
The pop tabs are brought to the Elora
Legion where they are sorted and used
to eventually purchase wheelchairs
for those in need
On Tuesday, August 15, Ken Diebel and his Wife Jean delivered 9 bags of pop tabs to the Elora Legion where all pop tabs are sorted for the metal content, thank you Tobermory and Wiarton Legion for participating in collecting them and also the individuals that bring them to the Legions. So far 2424 wheelchairs have been obtained for whoever needs one.

Our Membership Chairman, George Bowman, has informed me that membership dues are due by September 1, 2017 for the 2018 season. You can pay it by cheque or cash, either in person or by mailing it to R.C.L Br.202, PO Box 302, Lion’s Head On. N0H 1W0.

On September 9 there will be a motorcycle ride from Tobermory Legion to Meaford, starting app. at 10:00 a.m., with different stops at Cenotaphs along the route, with one of them being in Lion’s Head, it would be nice if the members of the Legion and the public would come out to greet them. This is in support for the Invictus Games that will be held in Toronto for injured troops from different Countries, similar to the Olympics.

The Legion thanks goes out to the Ladies Auxiliary and Card and Dart players for their continuing support.

For more information please go to our Legion Web site at lionsheadlegionbranch202.ca.

Thank you for your continuing support.
