Lion’s Head Legion
Cheque Presentation to Golden Dawn

26 June 2018

Submitted by Fred Van Tooren, PRO

(L-R) Ladies Auxiliary President Jean Shearer,
Golden Dawn CEO Gerry Myles, Legion President
Fred Van Tooren, Legion Secretary Sharon Colter,
Director of Care Jeri Moon and
   Legion Past-President Kim White
Our Annual Roast Beef Country Dinner with all the trimmings at the Legion will be on July 4th with the doors being open at 5:00 p.m.

On June 6, on behalf of Provincial Command, we presented to the Golden Dawn Seniors Home a Cheque in the amount of $5,655.00 for new equipment.

The Wheelchair Accessibility ramp is now completed and useable, the main entrance steps will be done before July 1st and Central Air has also been installed.

Our Annual Dart & Card Party hosted by Jean and Fred was held at our place with about 40 people in attendance. Looked like it that everyone enjoyed themselves.

A fun Golf Tournament was held at the Tobermory golf course hosted by Wayne and Barb. This was open to anyone who wished to play but pre-registration was required. After it was over, we all went over to Wayne and Barb’s place for a Rib and Chicken BBQ which was done to perfection.

Horseshoes has started again on Thursdays at 1:00 p.m. (except for the 1st Thursday of each month when we have our meeting).

After extensive amount of work done by Warner in repairing the backstops, painting the picnic tables and fence, it looks very good.

Terry Nangreaves, the Wife of Gerry Nangreaves who was our Legion President for 10 years, paid us a visit with attending our meeting.

A lot of work has been done at our Legion to this point by our members and I would like thank them all for stepping up to the plate and DOING it!

The Wheelchair Accessibility Lottery is doing well but there is still plenty of tickets available, please support us in our efforts. I would also like to thank Bruce Nuclear Power Plant and the Lioness for their generous donation.

July 1st is coming up, please change your FLAG if it has faded or is ripped or has deteriorated to the extent that you can’t tell what Country it represents!!
