27 March Newsletter 2020
Because of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the branch executive and I have closed the legion until further notice and have cancelled the April 2 meeting.

Several weeks ago in mid-March, the executive and I through e-mail made the decision to close Branch 202 and to review the situation on April 1. However, looking at the calendar, I noticed that the next scheduled meeting of the branch was April 2, at which time election of officers for 2020-2021 was to occur. I felt it was important to review the situation a few days earlier with the executive and to communicate the decision to the membership as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, about one week ago, I received an e-mail from Dominion Command stating that election of officers was suspended until branches could resume normal operations, and that the present executive was to stay in place until that time.

After looking at the current situation with respect to the pandemic, and the e-mail from Dominion Command, the executive and I decided to keep the legion closed and cancel all activities until further notice.

This past week I also spoke with Auxiliary President Jean Shearer about the pandemic and she also agreed that the branch remain closed until further notice.

If any veterans in Branch 202 or in the Lion’s Head area need assistance, Veterans’ Service Officer Nancy Alleyne is available. Her phone number is 226-974-2505. Her e-mail address is nancyalleyne33@gmail.com.
