Happenings at the Lion’s Head Legion Branch 202

  1. Success of the Fish Fry – 200 tickets sold out - Thank you to the volunteers, servers and the community members for their support on Tuesday August 15, 2023. Thank you to convenors, Wayne and Barb Morningstar for organizing the Fish Fry.
  2. Ladies Auxiliary Meat Pies are back. Oder by September 5th and pick up by 5:00 p.m. on the 19th. Phone Jean Shearer at 519-793-3014 or Mo Ready at 519-793-3506 to order the pies for $5.00 each. Choose turkey, beef or hamburger. Volunteers needed to make the pies. Many hands make light work.
  3. The Legion Membership Meeting is on Thursday September 7th at 7:00 p.m. Speaker is Jane Kramer from Southampton who will speak on her memories about Camp X during the WWII and Chantry Island in Southampton. Note that there is a time change to evening so that members who work during the day can attend the meeting. Join the Lion’s Head Legion Branch 202 as new members are welcome.
  4. The Old Schoolhouse Seniors Club, OSHS meet at the Lion’s Head Legion on September 5th for lunch at 11:30 p.m. Join us for lunch. Reserve your spot by e-mailing Janice at janjackson260@gmail.com or phone 519-793-3589. After lunch play some games of Fun Trivia. Reserve a seat on the bus for the September 20th to visit the Bruce County Museum & Archives. Board the bus at 9:30 a.m. and return to the Legion by 2:00 p.m. Park at the Lion’s Head Legion. Reserve with Lynda at 519-793-3474 asap. Bring your own lunch. The OSHS will pay for the bus and admittance to the Bruce County Museum. Non-members will be $15.00
  5. The Old Schoolhouse Seniors, OSHS will enjoy a corn roast and BBQ at the Legion on Tuesday August 29th at 5:00 p.m. Reserve your dinner by phoning Jan at 519-793-3589 or e-mail at janjackson260@gmail.com. Speaker will be Sandra Hong from the Grey Bruce Owen Sound Alzheimers Society sharing “Tips to Improve Memory.” Entertainment will include Brooklyn Hewton and Others. On Tuesday September 26th enjoy a roast beef dinner with speaker, Rachel Taylor from Home and Community Support Services. Learn about the services available for residents on the Northern Bruce Peninsula. Entertainment will follow. Cost for members is $10.00 and $15.00 for non-members. New members are welcome to join at $15.00.
  6. Bruce Men’s Shed – Someone to talk to, something to do and somewhere to go. Become a member or non-members are welcome at meetings. Members and non-members are empowered to lead, share or start a project with others. Attend on the third Saturday of each month at the Lion’s Head Legion. Next meeting is Saturday September 16th at 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. Contact brucemensshed@gmail.com.
  7. Corn Hole on Thursdays ends on August 31. Darts will resume on Monday nights at 7:00 p.m. on October 2nd.
