I am happy to announce that the Spaghetti Dinner and Silent Auction tickets are sold out for Saturday, May 4, 2024. Thank you to the many businesses, Legion members and individuals for donating to the silent auction. The proceeds of the evening will be donated to the Peninsula District School for the 2025 Grade 11 and Grade 12 trip to Amsterdam. The students will attend the “80th Anniversary of the Liberation of Holland at the end of World War II.” Watch for other opportunities to support the students in their fundraising activities throughout 2024.

On Saturday, May 4, 2024 there will be special draws, one for $300.00 and the other for $500.00 if you have purchased a pink ticket. Draw tickets may be purchased at the Shops on Main and at Rachel’s Restaurant and the Bakery in Lion’s Head or call Don Colter at 519-793-3473. You could be the winner of one of the draws.

The Lion’s Head Legion Branch 202 has its new year starting as of June 1, 2024. Therefore, that date means that elections are happening on May 2, 2024. The Legion is in need of volunteers and members. Consider joining the Legion, attending a monthly meeting and getting involved with helping your community. Consider standing for a position at the Legion or volunteer to help on a committee. Volunteer work can be very rewarding knowing you are helping and strengthening your community for everyone.

There are several groups meeting at the Legion that you may be interested in joining. All of the groups would benefit by having more members and volunteers. You will have the opportunity to meet like minded individuals who may become new friends. Volunteering will encourage you to get out of the house and be active while connecting with others. Volunteering can improve one’s health and wellness. If interested in volunteering or receiving more information call 519-793-3473 to inquire if your interests match one of the group’s interests. The groups meeting at the Legion are the S.W.A.N.S., the Lion Head and Ferndale Lion’s Club, the Bruce Men’s Shed, the Old School House Seniors’ Club, the Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Lion’s Head Legion Branch members.

Darts at the Legion are on Mondays and Thursdays, (not the first Thursday) during April. Bring your own darts. The fee at the door is $3.00. Cribbage is also played on Thursdays from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Nancy Alleyne would like to be notified if a Veteran or a member would like a visit by e-mailing her at br202vetsanseniors@gmail.com or calling 226‑974‑2505. Membership Chair, Chris Mawdsley can be contacted at 226‑668‑4540 or e-mail at branch202membership@gmail.com.

Hope to see you at the Lion’s Head Legion Branch 202 soon.
