February has been a fun month with Pancake Day Suppers, Valentine’s Day treats and Family Day activities. Fun has continued at the Lion’s Head Legion with darts on Mondays and Thursdays at 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. Bring your own darts. You do not have to be a member. Cost is $3.00 with snacks provided. Cribbage is also played on Thursday.

The Bruce Men’s Shed continues to meet on Monday mornings at 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. and on Tuesday mornings for the hobby model kits group. For more information phone Gerry Tilmans at 519-793-3005 or e-mail brucemensshed@gmail.com.

Thank you to the donors for the Silent Auction which will be held on Saturday May 4, 2024 from 5:00 – 7:30 p.m. Dinner tickets for the spaghetti dinner are $15.00 each. Tickets are available by phoning Don Colter at 519-793-3473 or Wayne Morningstar at 519-592-5846. Call Sharron Colter at 519-793-3473 if you can donate an item to the silent auction.

There will be a special Lottery Draw for a $500.00 and a $300.00 prize. Tickets are $5.00 each. Tickets are available at Rachel’s or The Shops in Lion’s Head or call Don Colter at 519-793-3473. The proceeds from the lottery draw and the silent auction will support charitable groups in the community and updates at the Legion.

The Legion continues to seek volunteers for committee work. The Legion could not give back to the community and provide a pleasant hall to meet, to visit, to play darts and to cater meals without volunteers. What are the benefits to volunteering? According to a recent survey from Saint John Ambulance the benefits include connecting with others, helping to make a difference in one’s community, meeting and volunteering with like-minded people, feeling positive about one’s activities helping an organization and giving a purpose to help others.

The mission of the Royal Canadian Legion is to serve Veterans, including serving military and RCMP members and their families, to promote Remembrance and to serve our communities and our country. Membership to a Legion can be applied for online at Ontario Command https://www.on.legion.ca or contact Chris Mawdsley at 226-668-4540 or e-mail branch202membership@gmail.com.
