
The members of the Lion’s Head Legion wish the community members a Happy Healthy New Year!
There are many activities happening in January for the community to participate. Darts continue on Mondays and Thursdays at 1:00 p.m. Cribbage is also played on Thursdays. The cost is $4.00 per person which includes snacks. Darts for Meat is scheduled for Saturday February 3rd. You do not have to be a member of the Legion.
The Bruce Men’s Shed continues to meet for coffee on Monday mornings from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. The next general meeting is Saturday January 20th at 9:00 a.m. Phone Gerry Tilmans at 519-666-3178 or e-mail

The legion has a monthly 50/50 lottery draw on the first Thursday of the month. Tickets can be purchased at By the Bay in Pike Bay, at the legion or from a legion member. Proceeds of this draw are donated to the many charities in the community. Some recent donations have been given to the Lion’s Head and Area Foodbank and the Lion’s Head Youth Skating Club. The lottery funds will sponsor the upcoming Public Speaking contest at the Peninsula School in Lion’s Head.
A special lottery with tickets for $5.00 each is available at the Legion. The proceeds from this lottery will support the continued updates at the Legion. The draw will take place at the Spaghetti Dinner and silent auction planned for Saturday April 27 at 5:00 p.m. The lottery has two cash prizes of $500.00 and $300.00. You could be a winner. The Legion members would like to thank the community for their donations to the Poppy Campaign in November. The proceeds of the Poppy Trust Fund are donated to the Ontario Command Bursary Fund and the Ladies Auxiliary and Branch Charitable Foundation. The Bursary Fund is available for youth who are attending college or university. The Charitable Foundation fund is available to hospitals, family health clinics, residences of long term care, fire fighter associations and the cadet programs for needed equipment. Both funds are open now for applications that are online or available at the Legion. The Poppy Trust Fund also supports veterans in long term care, with special needs and the Veteran’s Dinner.
