
The Lion’s Head Legion, Branch 202 is looking forward to welcoming the Old Schoolhouse Seniors as they return to their monthly lunch and dinner schedule starting in April. The Bruce Men’s Shed continues to meet on Monday mornings at 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. for coffee and connecting with others. If you attend, you will find out about the upcoming hikes and other planned events. Bruce Men’s Shed will also meet on Saturday March 16th at 9:00 – 11:30 a.m. at the Legion. To support the Bruce Men’s Shed, a grant was presented from the Retired Teachers of Ontario, (RTOERO).
The S.W.A.N.S. meet at the Legion on the first Monday of the month at 6:00 p.m. with the Legion Ladies Auxiliary catering their dinner meeting at 7:00 p.m. (not in July and August).
The Legion has continued to be home for the Ferndale and Lion’s Head Lions Club. The Lions have their meetings and dinners catered by the Legion Ladies Auxiliary on the second and fourth Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. (not in July and August)
All groups are not-for-profit. They contribute to the Northern Bruce Peninsula to ensure age-friendly initiatives. All groups are looking for new members and volunteers to continue their not-for-profit activities. These activities make the Northern Bruce Peninsula a better community for all. Each group has a role in their community to strengthen communication, health and wellness for all.
If you are interested in stretching yourself beyond your comfort level, meet new likeminded people, and to contribute your strengths and talents to an organization consider contacting one or two of the groups mentioned above and become involved in your community. Tickets are available for $5.00 by calling Don at 519-793-3473 or visiting Rachel’s Restaurant or The Shops on Main in Lion’s Head. You could win either $500 or $300. Proceeds are for the updates at the Legion or community outreach.
The Legion General Membership meeting is at 2:00 p.m. on
the first Thursday of the month. Plan to become a member to help with activities at the Legion, to help veterans and their families and their community.
On Saturday May 4, 2024 there will be a spaghetti dinner and a silent auction beginning at 5:00 p.m. for social and 6:00 p.m. for dinner. The silent auction will be open from 5:00 – 7:30 p.m. for bidding. Tickets are $15.00 per person.
The proceeds from the dinner and the silent auction will be donated to the Peninsula District School’s Grade 11 and Grade 12 students’ trip to Europe in May 2025 for the “80th Anniversary of the Liberation of Holland by the Canadian Military.”
