THE ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION BRANCH 202 P.O. BOX 302 LION’S HEAD, ON N0H 1W0 April 2014 Newsletter The General Meeting of Branch 202 was held on April 3, 2014 with 21 members attending. The Joint Executive Meeting was held on Tuesday April 22, 2014 with 15 Executive Members from the Branch and the Ladies Auxiliary attending. Presidents Report Rick reported that he attended Zone C4 Spring Convention in Port Elgin on Sunday March 23, 2014. Packages for our veterans will be made for the Military Service Recognition Book. Anyone with service can submit a picture and application to be included in this book. There are four resolutions being sent to Command related to Veteran benefits and pensions and lump sum payment disparities. Rick attended the District C Convention on 12/13 April 2014 in Port Elgin. Rick thanked the many Legion members who attended the Legion Service for Bob Mansfield on April 1, 2014. The election for the Branch Executive was held on Thursday, April 3, 2014 and the election for the Ladies Auxiliary was held on Tuesday, April 8, 2014. Many members enjoyed the Spring Fling Dance at the Legion on April 19, 2014. Thank you to Fred and Jean VanTooren and Jack and Jackie Seater for their part in organizing the event. Upcoming Events: Ladies Auxiliary Meat Pies – April 29th Branch and LA Joint Yard Sale – June 21st – Set up June 20th at the Legion – Save and donate any new or nearly new items for the yard sale when you do Spring cleaning. The Legion cannot accept appliances or mattresses for this yard sale unless they are brand new. Call Sharron Colter at 519-793-3473 or the Legion at 519-793-4455 if you have items that you would like picked up for the yard sale. Country Roast Beef Dinner – Wednesday July 2, 2014 – 5:00 p.m. Legion Fish Fry – Wednesday August 6, 2014 – 5:00 p.m. Friday Night Euchre – 7:30 p.m. – $3.00 per person, includes light lunch. 50/50 Draw – 4/$1.00 Plan to volunteer to help and/or attend these events to support your Legion.
