Presidents Report

Fred and Jean attended the Presidents’ meeting in Port Elgin. The Zone Commander and Deputy Zone Commander attended the Honours and Awards evening and inspected the Financial Reports of the Lions Head Legion.

Fred prepared the yearly report of Legion activities for the Zone booklet.

Fred and George Bowman represented the Lion’s Head Legion at the internment of Comrade Don Smith at Dunk’s Bay Cemetery on August 23, 2014. The Ladies Auxiliary prepared and served a funeral lunch at the Legion later in the day for Ruth Smith, her family and friends.

Fred will be on holidays from September 29 until October 22, 2014.

Sports:

Fred reported that darts on Mondays and Thursdays will begin after Thanksgiving weekend.
Euchre on Friday nights at 7:30 has resumed and is hosted by the Ladies Auxiliary.

Membership:

George Bowman would like the Branch renewal membership dues paid by December 31, 2014 for the Early Bird price of $50.00. After December 31, 2014, the membership renewal is $55.00. There will be a draw on December 4, for a free one year membership for all of the paid up members at that date. Members paying their dues in October will get 2 chances to win the draw. Pay your dues in November and you will get 1 chance to win the draw. George would like the dues sent to the Legion addressed as c/o George Bowman, Lion’s Head Legion, PO Box 302, Lion’s Head, Ontario N0H 1W0.

Veteran’s Dinner will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 5:30 p.m.

Sue Halliday will convene the dinner and will send out invitations to our veterans.

Military Service Recognition Book, Volume 1
has been published and is available at the Legion to read.


Ken Diebel and Rick Nolk, members of the Lion’s Head Legion are included in this volume. There are plans to have volume 2 published next September. George Bowman submitted several names, pictures and write-ups about military service personnel who are members of the Lion’s Head Legion. Family members can also make a submission to the Military Service Recognition Book on behalf of a family member who served in the Canadian military. Contact the Lion’s Head Legion or Sharron Colter for more information. The books will also be in all schools and public libraries in Ontario. They are paid for through the advertisers in the books who have honoured our veterans.
