February 2015 Newsletter
The General Meeting of Lion’s Head Legion Branch 202 was held on Tuesday January 20, 2015. The scheduled January 8th meeting was cancelled due to weather.
Next Meeting: Thursday February 5, 2015 at 2:00 pm.

2015 Legion Membership: There are 84 paid up members for 2015. Invite a family member, friend or a neighbour to join the Legion. Dues are now $55.00.
Alf Meyer, a veteran Legion member, recently received the France Legion Medal of Honour for his participation in France during the Second World War.

Purchases for the Legion:
  1. The membership approved the purchase and installation of a new propane furnace. The installation will be completed by Bill Kemp.
  2. The membership approved the purchase of a new refrigerator for the bar from Peninsula Appliances & TV in Ferndale. The older cooler in the bar quit working.

The New Year’s Eve Dinner and Dance was a success. The Ladies Auxiliary members are making plans for next year. Thank you to the members who worked hard to make the evening successful and enjoyable. Thank you to the many businesses and members who donated gifts for the dance.

Darts, Darts and Darts: Darts have begun again for 2015. Come out to the Legion on Mondays and/or Thursdays at 1:00 pm to play darts. Darts for Meat is at 1:00 pm on Saturday February 7th and Saturday February 21st. Dart activities support the Legion and continue to raise funds for the Legion.

Monthly Draw 50/50 Lottery tickets are available at the Legion. Donald Cormier of Lion’s Head won $48.50 in the 50/50 Lottery Draw on January 20th. Veterans Affairs: Nancy Alleyne is the Veteran Service Officer for the Lion’s Head Branch. Erin O’Toole was named as the new Veteran Affairs Minister on January 5, 2015. The deputy minister is Walter Natynczyk. A new Veteran’s Bureau Office was opened in London Ontario recently.

Ladies Auxiliary Meat Pies: Tuesday March 3, 2015. Order hamburger, roast beef and/or turkey pies. ($3.00 each) Phone Jean Shearer at 519-793-3014 or Brenda Klerks at 519-793-4945. Pick up the pies between 2:30 pm and 5:00pm.
