March 2015 Newsletter
The robins have been seen in Lion’s Head. Spring is here! Hope everyone is looking forward to grass cutting, planting the garden and enjoying the warmer weather that spring will bring.

Spring also brings the Legion to the nominations and elections of the Legion Executive. Elections will be held at the next General Meeting on Thursday April 2, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Do plan to attend. If you have time to volunteer your services for a position please let a member know. We need you to attend and vote for the Executive members. Positions for nominations and elections are President, First Vice-President, Second Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and four positions on the Executive Committee. I am giving up my position as Secretary and I am willing to train a new secretary. I have several other commitments in the future. The newly elected Executive is official at the General Meeting after June 1, 2015.

Upcoming Events:
  1. General Meeting – Thursday April 2, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Wear your uniform if possible.
  2. Dinner and Dance to support the Tobermory Legion – Saturday April 11, 2015 – order your tickets.
  3. Joint Branch and Ladies Executive Meeting – Tuesday April 21, 2015 at 10:00 a.m.
  4. Ladies Auxiliary Meat Pies – Tuesday April 28, 2015 – Pick up pies between 2:30 p.m. & 4:30 p.m.
Youth Education: There will be two public speakers from the Bruce Peninsula District School who will compete at the next Legion Level in Mount Forest on Saturday March 29, 2015.

Donations:
  1. The Lion’s Head Legion will make a donation of $500.00 to each of the District C Hospital Fund and the Legion Branch and Ladies Auxiliary Charitable and Bursary Funds from the Poppy Fund.
  2. The cheque for the Peninsula Family Health Centre has arrived from the Legion Branch and Ladies Auxiliary Charitable Fund. The cheque will be presented by Jean Shearer to the Peninsula Family Health Centre.
New Appointment:
Don Colter has accepted the appointment as the Legion Maintenance Officer.

Fred Van Tooren attended the Zone C-4 Spring Council Meeting at the Wiarton Legion Branch 208 on Sunday March 22, 2015.

The new furnace and the propane tank from Sparlings have been installed and are working well to heat the Lion’s Head Legion.

The Lottery Draw in the amount of $65.00 was won by Goldie Mielhausen of Lion’s Head on Thursday March 5, 2015. Remember to buy your Legion Lottery Draw ticket for $1.00 before April 2, 2015.
