    The General Meeting of Branch 202 was held on April 7, 2016 with 19 members attending. The Joint Executive Meeting was held on Tuesday April 19, 2016 with 9 Executive Members from the Legion Branch and the Ladies Auxiliary attending.

President’s Report:
    Rick reported that he attended the Zone C-4 Spring Convention in Chatsworth and will attend District “C” Convention with Kim White in Owen Sound on April 9th and 10th. He thanked the Ladies Auxiliary for all that they do for the Legion. He announced that meat pies would be made on April 26th and volunteers are welcome to come and help.

Veterans’ Stories:
    Written stories about our Veterans are needed for the Military Service Recognition Book, Volume lll. Anyone with military service can submit a picture and an application to be included in this book. Submissions for this year are due by May 30, 2016 at the Lion’s Head legion. Application forms are available from Sharron Colter, secretary at 519-793-3473.

In Remembrance:
    We will remember Comrade John (Jack) Knowles, at the celebration of life at the Whitcroft Funeral Home on Saturday, 30 April at 2:00 p.m. in Wiarton. Attend the Legion Service at 1:45 p.m. and wear your uniform.

    The election for the Branch Executive was held on Thursday April 7, 2016. The election for the Ladies Auxiliary was held on Tuesday April 12, 2016.

    Join us on Tuesday May 17, 2016 at the Legion for Social at 6:00 p.m. and a Pot Luck Dinner at 7:00 p.m.
    The Executive Officers will be installed after dinner by the Zone C-4 and Deputy Zone C-4 Commanders.

Ladies Auxiliary Meat Pies April 26th
Branch Yard Sale Convened by Fred and Jean VanTooren in June at the Legion – Save and donate any new or nearly new items for the yard sale when you do Spring cleaning. The Legion cannot accept appliances or mattresses for this yard sale unless they are brand new. Call Don Colter at 519‑793‑3473 or Fred Van Tooren at 519‑795‑7823 if you have items that you would like picked up for the yard sale or if you can volunteer to help at the Yard Sale.
Country Roast Beef Dinner   Wednesday July 6, 2016 – 5:00 p.m. – volunteers needed to help - sign-up sheet is at the Legion
Legion Fish Fry Wednesday August 3, 2016 - 5:00 p.m. – volunteers needed to help – sign-up sheet is at the Legion
Friday Night Euchre 7:30 p.m. - $3.00 per person, includes light lunch.
50/50 Draw – 2/$1.00

    Plan to volunteer to help and/or attend these events to support your Legion. Invite a friend or family member to join the Legion.

Special Events:
  1. The locks on the doors of the Legion have been changed to one key for all of the doors with dead bolts. If you need a key contact Don Colter at 519-793-3473.
    The security system is in operation.
  2. A Special Celebration for the 85th Anniversary for the Branch and the 65th Anniversary for the Ladies Auxiliary will be held on Monday June 20th at the Legion with “The Following Sea” a five piece band performing Celtic, Bluegrass and Country Music from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Call Rick Nolk at 519-793-3473 or Sharron Colter at 519-793-3473 for more information. Only limited seating available.
  3. Join the Ladies Auxiliary at 2:00 p.m. on 21 June at the Golden Dawn Seniors’ Residence in Lion’s Head for a birthday celebration for the residents. Volunteers are welcome to help with cake and ice cream.
  4. A plaque will be presented to a student at the Bruce Peninsula School who won 1st at School, Zone C-4 and District “C” levels and 2nd at Provincial Level for a poem. Another student will receive a plaque for a poster that won 1st at the school and Zone C-4 levels and 4th at the District “C” level.
  5. The Lion’s Head Legion donated $600.00 to the Simcoe Forrester Cadets in Owen Sound from the Poppy Trust Fund.
  6. A presentation of a cheque for the purchase of a new lift will be made to the Golden Dawn Seniors’ Residence staff in Lion’s Head by Branch President, Rick Nolk and Ladies Auxiliary President, Jean Shearer from the Ontario Provincial Command Legion Branch and Ladies Auxiliary Charitable Foundation.
  7. Congratulations to George Bowman, membership chair and the members of the Lion’s Head Legion for receiving a certificate for achieving 86.3% in Early Bird Membership Renewals. There are 102 members of the Branch.
