Branch Yard Sale – June 18th – Set up June 17th at the Legion – Save and donate any new or nearly new items for the yard sale when you do Spring cleaning. The Legion cannot accept appliances or mattresses or old retired items for this yard sale unless they are brand new. Drop your items off at the Legion on June 17th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. or phone a member to make arrangements for a donation or pick up. The articles for the Yard Sale MUST BE NEW OR NEARLY NEW. Please be considerate in bringing your items to the Legion and assessing them carefully as new or gently used. This consideration will help greatly with the sales and the cleanup at the end of the day. The Yard Sale will start at 8:00 a.m. and finish at 1:00 p.m. Remember that you may just find that treasure for which you have been looking. Fred and Jean Van Tooren are convening the Yard Sale. Signup sheets are available at the Legion for volunteers to help at these dinners.
Friday Night Euchre – 7:30 p.m. - $3.00 per person, includes light lunch. No Euchre or Bridge on June 17th as it is set up for the Yard Sale at 1:00 p.m.

Donations:
- The Lion’s Head Legion 50/50 Lottery donated $240 in prize money for the Public Speaking Contest held at the Peninsula District School in Lion’s Head.
- The Lion’s Head Legion Poppy Trust Fund donated $600.00 to the Cadet Corps in Owen Sound. The Cadets will assist with the Remembrance Day Services.
- The Golden Dawn Senior Residence in Lion’s Head received a cheque for $5,962.00 from the Ontario Provincial Command Branches and Ladies Auxiliaries Charitable Foundation to purchase a new tub chair lift for the nursing home. The Legion Branch and Ladies Auxiliary donate to the Charitable Foundation yearly from proceeds received from fundraising activities at the Lion’s Head Legion.

- On Saturday June 11th or rain date June 12th Air and Auto Extravaganza
Be aware of the fundraiser for the “Runway to the World” bringing the world to you. This is a fundraiser for the Wiarton Keppel International Airport to rehabilitate and extend the runway and the runway lighting. Attend the Air and Auto Extravaganza at the airport on June 11th or rain date June 12th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. There will be vintage aircraft, vintage antique cars, vintage motorcycles, new model cars and a 70 Vendors Market in the Hangars. Fun for the whole family as there will be clowns with special surprises, face painting and free mini putt golf for children or grandchildren. There will be an opportunity to sign-up a young person from the ages of 8 to 17 for a free airplane ride in July or August at the COPA Flight 68 tent. The purpose of the event is to promote the Wiarton Keppel International Airport and to raise funds to create a state of the art Regional Airport to be ready for emergency preparedness in case of a natural disaster for quick evacuation of people or to bring in needed supplies. The Bruce Peninsula Health Services needs the medivac service available at the airport to ensure quick response times.

- On Thursday June 16th there will be a workshop on Safe Communities, Keeping Seniors Safe and A Discussion on Elder Abuse and Prevention at 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Legion. Call Sharron Colter at 519-793-3473 if you plan on attending. There will be light refreshments. Sponsored by a New Horizons Government Grant.
- On Monday June 20th we are celebrating 85 years for the Lion’s Head Legion Branch and 65 years for the Ladies Auxiliary at the Legion from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with “The Following Sea” which is a Celtic, Bluegrass and Country Band from Sault Ste. Marie. The band is touring Ontario and will make a stop at the Lion’s Head Legion. Refreshments will be served at 9:00 p.m. by the Ladies Auxiliary. Door prizes from local businesses.
