    July and August months are quiet months for the Lion’s Head Legion as most activities stop in June and resume in September. Please check the website lionsheadlegionbranch202.ca for information about the Legion and a copy of the calendar. Bridge will continue throughout the summer on Fridays. Euchre will resume in September.

Reminders:
    Volunteers are needed for the Country Roast Beef Dinner on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. Call Sue Halliday at 519-795-7533 if you can assist in the kitchen or donate a dessert. Volunteers will also be needed for the Fish Fry on Wednesday August 3rd at 5:00 p.m.

Good News!!!!!
    The Ontario Seniors’ Secretariat has approved an application for a bus trip on Tuesday, September 28, 2016 that I called “Seniors Bus Tripping in Grey County.” There are 14 seats still available as many members have already reserved. Phone Sharron Colter at 519-793-3473 to sign up for the trip. The day is funded by the Ontario Government and the Senior Secretariat Community Grant. Agenda for the Bus Trip includes visiting the Wiarton Keppel International Airport, bring your own lunch, Grey Roots Museum and Moreston Village and a turkey and roast beef dinner at the Owen Sound Legion. We will load the bus in Lion’s Head at the Friendship Club, (next to the arena) at 9:30 a.m. and return by 7:00 p.m.

    The water system at the Legion has been updated with new equipment including the water filter system, water softener and iron remover.

    “A Historical Review of the Lion’s Head Legion Branch 202 Minute Books from 1931 to 2016” is available for sale by the Legion. Soft cover books are $25.00 and hard cover books are $55.00. Call Sharron Colter at 519-793-3473 for an autographed copy.

    The Legion Branch celebrated 85 years and the Ladies Auxiliary celebrated 65 years on Monday June 21st with the music of “The Following Sea,” a band from an island near Sault Ste. Marie. Fifty members were in attendance during the presentations of certificates from M.P. Larry Miller, M.P.P. Bill Walker and Northern Bruce Peninsula Mayor Milt McIver.

  1. Country Roast Beef Dinner – Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. Purchase your ticket for $17.00 from a Legion Member. Call Don Colter at 519-793-3473, Nancy Alleyne at 519- 793-4346 or Sue Halliday at 519-795-7533 to reserve or to purchase tickets. Only 200 tickets available. Children 7 to 12, $8.00 and children under 7 are free.
  2. General Membership Meeting – Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. You are invited!! Wear your uniform if possible as there will be three new members initiated.
  3. Bridge on Fridays at 1:00 p.m. – Bring a partner. Come out and have some fun!!!
  4. Legion Fish Fry – Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. Volunteer to help.
