Ladies Auxiliary Meeting at 12:00 p.m. for Pot Luck and Membership Meeting at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday September 13, 2016.
The Legion Branch Zone and Deputy Zone Commanders will be at the Legion for their yearly visitation and inspection of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 202, Lion’s Head on Thursday October 6, 2016. Please wear your uniform if you have one, if not, attend in casual dress and support your Legion and elected executive.

The 2016 Legion Membership dues are due for $50.00 a year.
After December 31st dues are $55.00.
There is a cost to operate the Legion and your dues help cover these costs.

Early Bird Draw:
Members paying dues before October 31st will have two (2) chances to win the 2016 Dues Refund. Dues paid before November 30th will have one (1) chance for 2016 Dues Refund. Draw will be held at the December 1st, 2016 General Meeting.

Special Recognition and Thank You!
- I appreciate Shirley Bricker for recording the minutes at the meetings while I am recuperating at home.
- A big thank you goes to the volunteers at the Fish Fry Dinner on August 3, 2016. The donated homemade desserts
were wonderful. Bev’s Fruit Stand in Tobermory donated the potatoes. The Fish Fry Dinner raised funds for the
Legion.
- Attend the Honours and Awards Ceremony on Tuesday September 27, 2016 to congratulate the many members who will
receive years of service pins and special awards. Let’s congratulate Ken Diebel for his 70 years of service to
the Legion. He will receive a certificate of recognition from the Legion.
- A thank you to the Ontario Senior Secretariat for partnering with the Lion’s Head Legion and Senior Groups in
Lion’s Head and Stokes Bay to provide funding for the upcoming Bus Trip on Wednesday September 28, 2016. The bus is
full but I am keeping a wait list in case someone cancels. Phone 519-793-3473 if you want to be on the wait list or
have to cancel. There are four names on the wait list at this time. The details of the Bus Trip will be posted at
the Lion’s Head Legion. I will be calling everyone to confirm with you during the week of September 18th.
Upcoming purchases/updates for consideration are:
- Air conditioning for the Legion Hall.(Possibly connecting into the new furnace).
- A new cash register for the bar area.(Second hand cash register has been donated. This cash register will be
checked out for possible use at the Legion).
- Continuous monitoring of the water system, (New system installed recently).
- Accessibility to the building and the washrooms.
Sunshine Message for Legion Members:
Legion members, Shirley and Larry Adams have moved from Lion’s Head to Kelso Retirement Villa. You may want to drop them a note or visit them when you are in Owen Sound. Their new address is: Kelso Retirement Villa, 1475 2nd Ave West, Room230, Owen Sound, ON N4K 6Z2

Poppy Campaign for 2016
Karen Winters will be scheduling Legion members for the Poppy Campaign held at Hellyer’s Foodland and the LCBO in Lion’s Head on October 28 and 29 and November 4 and 5. If you are available to campaign let the Legion or Karen know.
