October Newsletter 2016
Thursday, October 6, 2016 is the next Legion General Meeting. Wear your uniform if you can and join us to meet the Zone C-4 Commander Sheila James and the Deputy Zone Commander Dean Weir at 2:00 p.m.

Next Ladies Auxiliary Meeting is Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. for Pot Luck and 1:30 p.m. for a General Meeting.

Our mission is to serve Veterans, which includes serving military and RCMP
members and their families; to promote Remembrance; and to serve our
communities and our country. (revised 2015)

Stay tuned for the time and date at the Legion for training for a defibrillator, an electrical device to shock the heart into action that will make its home at the Legion for Emergency Purposes. The Legion donated to the Heart and Stroke Foundation on behalf of the Bruce County Paramedic Service Team in order to bring this electronic device to the Legion.

Have you signed up for the upcoming Poppy Donation Campaign?
The Legion does not sell poppies. The Legion asks for donations. The Poppy Canvassing will take place at Hellyer’s Foodland and at the LCBO the two weekends before Remembrance Day. Some cadets from the Cadet Corps in Owen Sound will assist again this year with the Remembrance Day Services. More information will follow in the November Newsletter.

Dues Due… Remember to pay for your 2017 Membership Dues for the Legion to have a chance at a draw for a Free Membership to be drawn at the General Membership Meeting in December. Membership Dues are $50.00 before December 31, 2016 and $55.00 after that date.

Send a cheque for your dues payable to Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 202, and mail to:
Lion’s Head Legion, Branch 202, PO Box 302, Lion’s Head, Ontario, N0H 1W0

“Communication Should be a Two Way Street.”

There is a sender of the message and a receiver of that message.

The Lion’s Head Legion Branch 202 continues to reach out to their members, both Branch and Ladies Auxiliary members via:
  1. Monthly Meetings the first Thursday of the month at 2:00 p.m. for the Branch and the second Tuesday of the month for the Ladies Auxiliary Pot Luck Lunch at 12:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. for the meeting.
  2. Monthly Newsletters and Event Calendars sent through the mail or via e-mail.
  3. A wonderful website, lionsheadlegionbranch202.ca maintained and updated on a voluntary basis by a community member.
  4. Bulletin boards at the Legion for updated, important or current information.
Yet, I am hearing there is a problem with communication at the Legion. What is the problem?
  1. Are you attending meetings?
  2. Are you reading the monthly newsletters and keeping the Event Calendars close by for reminders? I send one per household. Do I need to send two?
  3. Are you accessing the website for information and updates if you have a computer?
  4. Are you phoning a member of the Legion or Executive if you have a question or a concern?
  5. Have you taken the time to read this complete newsletter? I usually try to write a one page only newsletter in hopes that it gets read during our busy life.
Remember that “Communication” starts with you!!

How can the Legion improve communication to the members?
