Legion Dues are Due! Renew now for the Early Bird draw.

Membership dues are $50.00 if paid by December 31, 2016 for the 2017 year. Members renewing on or before December 1, 2016 will have an opportunity to win a one-year free membership in a draw. Dues are $55.00 after December 31, 2016. Membership dues should be mailed to Lion’s Head Legion, Branch 202, PO Box 302, Lion’s Head, Ontario N0H 1W0. Membership dues for the Ladies Auxiliary will be accepted by Helen Stewart.

Ladies Auxiliary Meeting – Tuesday November 8, 2016 – Pot Luck 12:00 noon
General Meeting 1:30 p.m. Plan to attend a meeting to find out more about your Legion.

Buy your 50/50 tickets at $1.00 each to support donations to community groups.

The Legion members approved a $400.00 donation to the Lion’s Head Food Bank.

Lottery 50/50 Draw – Amount won: $72.00 – Won by Sharlene Mattucci.

Volume III of the “Military Service Recognition Book” will soon be available at the Legion. If you know of a Veteran, encourage the family to submit a picture and a short description of the Veteran’s wartime or peacetime experience and submit it to the Legion to be included in Volume IV. Submissions are also accepted for presently serving military personnel. Applications are available at www.on.legion.ca or at the legion. Submissions are due to the Legion by May 1st 2017. Call 519-793-3473 for further information.

Remembrance Activities and Services:
1.  Canvassing for Poppies:
Thanks to the members who will canvas on October 28th and 29th and November 4th and 5th. Wear your poppy proudly.
2.  Remembrance Church Services: Sunday November 6, 2016
Pike Bay United Church – 9:30 a.m. - Legion Colours
Lion’s Head United Church – 11:00 a.m. - Legion Colours
All members are welcome to attend the church services.
3.  Remembrance Day – Friday November 11, 2016
Parade at 9:30 at Lindsay, Monument Corners
Parade at 10:45 a.m. in Lion’s Head at the Cenotaph
Pot Luck lunch at the Legion at 12:00 noon.

The Poppy Trust Fund has donated to the Legion and the Ladies Auxiliary Bursary Fund, the Ladies Auxiliary and the Legion Branch Charitable Foundation, the Veterans’ Hospital Care Program at Parkwood in London, the Veterans’ Dinner and the Army Cadet Corps in Owen Sound.

On Remembrance Day we will welcome and appreciate the assistance of the cadets from the Owen Sound Cadet Corps with the laying of wreaths ceremony.

Bursary Applications for College or University Education are available at the Legion or online at www.on.legion.ca.

Ladies Auxiliary Christmas Bazaar: Saturday November 19, 2016 beginning at 9:00 a.m. There will be crafts, baking goods, meat pies, preserves and Christmas items to buy and soup and a sandwich for lunch.

Friday November 18, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. is set up for the Bazaar. No euchre Friday night.

Ladies keep the date, Tuesday December 13, 2016 open for the Ladies Auxiliary Christmas Pot Luck Luncheon for their members and other ladies in the community at 12:00 p.m. Join in the fun with the candy cane draw, visit from Santa and sharing a gift. Bring a gift of value up to $15.00 and receive a gift presented to you by Santa. Bring an item to donate to the Lion’s Head Food Bank.

Members are invited to the Joint Legion and Ladies Auxiliary Pot Luck Christmas Party at 12:00 p.m. at the Legion on Thursday December 15, 2016. Join us and have some fun together with local entertainment. Mark this date on your calendar.
