The help from the cadets from the Owen Sound Cadet Corps was appreciated during the laying of the wreaths.

All first place entries will go forward to the Zone “C-4” Competition. Thank you to Kim White for organizing this contest at the Lion’s Head District Peninsula School. The Lion’s Head Poppy Trust Fund supports the winners with a monetary prize.

A workshop by EMS Bruce County Emergency Services was presented at the Legion on November 24th related to the use of the defibrillator that is available at the Legion. The defibrillator was made possible by a donation from the Legion to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the bicycle team from Bruce County EMS who participated in a fundraiser in Toronto and came in first place for donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Volume III of the Military Service Recognition Book is now available at the Legion. This volume has 260 pages of pictures of veterans and serving personnel with a short write up for each of them. 240 pages have messages from businesses, unions and municipalities across Ontario who donate to and remember the sacrifices of our military veterans. The Military Service Recognition Books are available free to schools, libraries, family members and legions through the generous financial sponsorship of businesses and unions.
One financial sponsor included this quote, “It is not without a price, that we live in a land that is free. In honour of our brave veterans – for your service, endurance, sacrifice and wisdom that we all too often take for granted. We are humbled by your bravery and inspired by your love of country. With deep appreciation and respect, we thank you.” There is time to submit a picture and a short write up about a veteran or a serving military personnel to Sharron Colter to be included in Volume IV. This is a wonderful way to remember our veterans and active military personnel for future generations. Submissions must be at the Legion by May 1, 2017.
