Executive Meeting:
The Executive met on Wednesday February 14, 2017 at the Lion’s Head Legion with 11
members in attendance. The regular general meetings for January and February were cancelled due to
stormy winter weather.
The March Event Calendar has the usual activities continuing at the Legion. Do try to participate in darts, cribbage, euchre or darts for meat. Not only are these activities “fun” but they also allow you to meet other members of the Legion and the community. Check your March Event Calendar for more details. The Calendar and the Newsletter are also available on the website www.lionsheadlegionbranch202.ca
Upcoming Events for the Legion:
- Youth Public Speaking Contest on Tuesday February 21, 2017 at the Bruce Peninsula District School at
9:00 a.m. The monetary recognition is supported by the Lottery Fund.
- President Kim White will be attending the Zone and District “C” Meetings on our behalf in March and
April. At these meetings President Kim will present cheques for $500.00 for each of the following: District
“C” Hospital Fund (continues to help our veterans), The Ontario Command Legion Branches and Ladies
Auxiliary Charitable Fund, (The Bruce Peninsula Family Health Team will receive funding from this fund this
year.), The Bursary Fund for members’ children and grandchildren who are attending college or university.
Check with President Kim for more information.
- Nominations and Elections on Thursday April 6, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Legion. Think about how you
might be able to accept a position on the Executive. The Legion needs more members to take an active role
on the Executive or on an appointed committee. Let an Executive member know your interests.
- “Meeting Minutes” in a Membership Binder will be made available for members to read the minutes
and the reports from each General Meeting for 2017. It will be for members only. The binder will be
available at the Legion. If you have any questions or suggestions contact an Executive Member. The contact
numbers are available on the bulletin board at the Legion.
- New lightbulbs and ballasts have been installed in the kitchen and the hall. Hope the brightness of the
new lightbulbs makes the Legion brighter!
- Thanks to the Ladies Auxiliary who donated $500.00 towards the Northern Bruce Peninsula EMS Team
who brought us the LED Defibrillator that has been installed.
Enjoy the warmer weather as spring approaches. Will Wiarton Willie be correct this year?
