June Newsletter 2018
Welcome and congratulations to the newly elected executive who begin their leadership roles as of June 1, 2018. We welcome Fred Van Tooren as the Legion Branch President for 2018-2019.

     Welcome to the newest members of the Legion Branch who were initiated on May 3rd, Allan Partridge and Bob Rushton.


Branch Yard Sale –
     Saturday, June 23rd – Set up Friday June 22nd at the Legion. The Legion cannot accept appliances or mattresses or old retired items for this yard sale unless they are brand new. Drop your items off at the Legion on June 22nd from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. or phone Don Colter at 519-793-3473 to make arrangements for pick up.

The articles for the Yard Sale MUST BE NEW OR NEARLY NEW
     The Yard Sale will start at 8:00 a.m. and finish at 1:00 p.m. Sue Halliday is convening the Yard Sale. Volunteer help needed. Call Sue at 519-795-7533.

Annual Country Roast Beef Dinner –
     Wednesday July 4th, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Convenor and volunteers needed. Call Sharron Colter at 519-793-3473 or Fred Van Tooren at 519-795-7823 to reserve tickets or to volunteer.
Annual Legion Fish Fry – Wednesday August 1, 2018, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Phone Sharron Colter or Fred Van Tooren to purchase tickets or to volunteer. Sign-up sheets will be available at the Legion for volunteers to help at these dinners.

Friday Night Euchre –
     7:30 p.m., $3.00 per person, includes light lunch will finish on June 29th and resume in September. There will be no Euchre June 22nd as it will be drop off and set up for the Yard Sale at 1:00 p.m.

Poppy Committee for 2018-2019 –
     Richard Smith, Susan Uren, Karen Winters and George Bowman.

Building Accessibility Updates –
     Plans are ready for the making the building accessible. The Special Lottery to raise funds have tickets available for $5.00 EACH for a chance to win either $1,000.00 or $500.00 in December 2018.

Seniors Bus Trip from the Northern Bruce Peninsula to Owen Sound –
     Call Sharron Colter at 519-793-3473 if you want to be on the waiting list to participate in a bus trip to the Owen Sound Marine Museum, Season’s and the Owen Sound Legion for a speaker entertainer and dinner on Thursday August 30, 2018 funded by the Ministry of Seniors Affairs. The bus will leave the Friendship Club at 9:30 a.m. and return by 7:00 p.m. Many members have signed up and the bus is full. A waiting list is important in case someone has to cancel.

Join the Nine Hole Golf Scramble –
     On Tuesday June 12 at 11:00 a.m. at the Corner Stone Golf Course in Tobermory. Cost is $30.00 with a cart. Pay Wayne Morningstar upon arrival. Each person is asked to bring a prize worth $15.00 to $20.00 to add to the fun of the day. The prize can be for a male, female or generic.
     A BBQ will follow at Wayne and Barb Morningstar’s at 7 Molly St., Hardwick Cove. The Morningstar’s are supplying the meat. Please bring a pot luck dish to the BBQ such as an appetizer, salad or dessert. Please bring your own beverage. New to the Legion –
     Air Conditioning, a new high toilet and sink in the ladies’ washroom, relining the entry cement steps with wood and renewal of the horseshoe pits.
