Branch Yard Sale held on Saturday June 23rd – Thank you to Sue Halliday and her volunteers for a successful Legion Branch Yard Sale. Thank you to all of the Legion and community members who donated items to the Yard Sale.

Have you purchased or reserved your tickets to the Legion Branch Annual Country Roast Beef Dinner held on Wednesday July 4th, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. have you offered to volunteer? A sign- up sheet is available at the Legion. Call Sharron Colter at 519-793-3473 or Fred Van Tooren at 519-795-7823 to reserve tickets or to volunteer.

Annual Legion Fish Fry: Wednesday August 1, 2018, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Phone Sharron Colter or Fred Van Tooren to purchase tickets or to volunteer. Sign-up sheets are available at the Legion for volunteers to help.

Friday Night Euchre at 7:30 p.m. will resume in September.

Horseshoes at the Legion on Thursdays at 1:00 p.m. Thank you to Werner Moslinger for updating and reviving the horseshoe pits. Have fun this summer playing horeshoes or play cards in the hall on Thursdays while enjoying the new air conditioning during a hot summer day.

Building Accessibility Updates: Have you purchased your Lottery ticket for $5.00 EACH for a chance to win either $1,000.00 or $500.00 in December 2018? The funds from this lottery will support the accessibility initiatives needed to make the Lion’s Head Legion fully wheelchair accessible. The ramp is complete. Plans are underway to make the back door wheelchair accessible.
Thank you to Bruce Nuclear Power for $2,500.00 and to the Ferndale Lion’s Head Lioness for $1,000.00 as donations to the Accessibility Fund. Another donation will be made from the Poppy Fund.

The Nine Hole Golf Scramble held on Tuesday June 12 at Stone Golf Course in Tobermory was enjoyed by 20 golfers. Thanks to Wayne and Barb Morningstar for arranging this fun event and for their hospitality at their home for a pot luck BBQ after golfing.

The Golden Dawn Seniors’ Home was presented a cheque for $5,655.00 by your Executive Members on Wednesday June 20, 2018. This donation was from the Legion Branch and Legion Ladies Auxiliary Charitable Foundation that all Legions and Legion Ladies Auxiliaries donate to yearly.

Thank you to Dave Uren for looking after the ground work around the legion this summer.

The front steps at the front entrance are being improved. The ladies washroom now has a new sink and two high rise toilets, thanks to the installation by Don Colter. The Air Conditioner has been installed as an attachment to the furnace. Hope the cooler air will make it more comfortable in the hall after cooking meals in the kitchen.
