January Newsletter 2019
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!
Wishing everyone a happy, healthy and prosperous new year!

The Lion’s Head Legion Executive is inviting members to become more involved with the Branch. Attend the next General Meeting on Thursday January 3, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. to support the installation of Dave Uren as Sergeant-at-Arms. Please wear your uniform, if possible. If you do not have a uniform, you can still attend as a member to support your Legion Branch members.

Volunteering is always commendable as the work is often completed behind the scenes. Consider signing up as a host or lunch provider for the Friday Night Euchres attended by many community members. The Legion Branch will host the Friday Night Euchres from February to June. Phone Don Colter at 519-793-3473 or sign up at the Legion, if you are available to host or to make lunch.

Thank you to the Ladies Auxiliary who hosted the Friday night euchres from September to January. The Ladies Auxiliary meeting is held on the second Tuesday of the month at 1:30 p.m. Join the Ladies Auxiliary and attend the pot luck luncheon at 12:00 p.m.

Lottery Updates: The 50/50 Draw for $58.00 was won by Kim White in December. Remember to buy your Lottery draw ticket at the Legion, Marydales in Lion’s Head or By the Bay in Pike Bay. The 50/50 Lottery Draw gives back to the community. In December a donations of $200.00 was given to the Lion’s Head Food Bank.

The Special Lottery Draw for the Wheelchair Accessibility Fund was held on December 6, 2018. Garrett Barnes of Port Franks, Ontario won $1,000.00 and DJ Colter of Exeter won $500.00. Congratulations to both winners! Thank you to all of the Legion Branch and community members who bought tickets.

The Legion Branch Executive is planning a Valentines Dinner and Silent Auction on Saturday February 16, 2019 as a fundraiser for the Wheelchair Accessibility Fund. Hope you will be able to attend. Tickets will be $15.00 with Chef Wayne Morningstar preparing a special menu including his homemade cabbage rolls. Members can support this worthy cause by donating a silent auction item with a value of at least $25.00.
Call Sharron Colter at 519-793-3473 if you can donate a silent auction item.

Thank you to everyone who has paid their 2019 Legion dues. Congratulations to Don Colter who won the Membership Early Bird draw for a free one year Legion membership.

Let us remember our Veterans. Lest we forget!
