July Newsletter 2019
Thursday June 6, 2019 was the beginning of the newly elected executive year 2019-2020. Thank you to everyone who let their nomination stand. We welcome Richard Smith as the President. Richard was very detailed and conscientious as the Poppy Fund Chair and the Honours and Awards chair for several years. The Executive members look forward to the legion members supporting the Branch by attending the general meetings. The Executive needs you to attend meetings to ensure a quorum to conduct business.

Thank you to Fred Van Tooren for his hard work as outgoing President. Kim White will continue his duties as Zone C-4 Deputy Commander. Rick Nolk will be on the Finance Review Committee.
Sue Halliday is the Public Relations Officer. She will prepare articles for the Tobermory Press.

Volunteers are needed for the Country Roast Beef Dinner on Wednesday July 3, 2019 . The dinner will be served from 5:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m. Call Susan Uren at 519-793-3888 or Karen Winters at 519‑793‑4137 if you can assist in the kitchen or donate a dessert. Pies, cheesecake, butter tarts or carrot cake are always enjoyed as a dessert.
Tickets are available from Don Colter at 519‑793‑3473 or Susan Uren at 519‑793‑3888. You can call ahead and order your tickets to pick up at the door.
The tickets are $18.00 for adults, $9.00 for a child 7 to 12 and a child under 7 eats free. Bring your family, neighbours and friends.

Volunteers will also be needed for the Fish Fry on Wednesday August 7th at 5:00 p.m.

The Ministry of Seniors and Accessibility has announced applications for a Senior Community Grant Fund available for a project or bus trip for up to $4,000.00. The Lion’s Head Legion members are supporting the application for a bus trip to Owen Sound. This bus trip gives the Branch and Ladies Auxiliary members an opportunity to network with other seniors in the community. More details with an agenda for the day will be available in the August Newsletter.

The Lion’s Head Legion Ladies Auxiliary Euchre teams won first and tied for second place in the Zone C-4 Euchre Tournament held at the Legion on June 8, 2019. The Ladies Auxiliary will host the ladies of the community and other Legion Branches for a Fun Night on June 20th at 7:00 p.m.
Next Ladies Auxiliary Meeting will be on Tuesday August 13, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. for Pot Luck at 1:30 p.m. for the meeting.

Friday night euchres end at the ended of June and resume in September. The euchres were well attended. Darts will resume in October. Thank you to Jean Van Tooren and the dart and card players on Mondays and Thursdays who donated $1,876.00 to the Legion.
