The next Legion Branch General Meeting will be held on on Thursday January 2, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. We need at least four more Legion members to attend the General Meetings to ensure quorum to carry out the important financial business of the Legion and to discuss and approve future business for the upcoming events and activities. Wearing a uniform is not necessary at this meeting. The Legion Branch Executive meets at 1:15 p.m.

The Legion Branch will host the Friday Night Euchres from February to June. If you can volunteer, either phone Don Colter at 519-793-3473, or sign up at the Legion, if you are available to host or to make a lunch. There is a sign-up sheet available at the Legion. The cost for euchre is $3.00 per person with a light lunch. There is a Municipality approved licenced 50/50 Draw available. The proceeds from the 50/50 Draw are returned to the community through donations to the many group charities in Northern Bruce Peninsula and youth events within Bruce County.

The next Legion Ladies Auxiliary Meeting will be held on Tuesday January 14, 2020, the second Tuesday of the month at 1:30 p.m. Join the Ladies Auxiliary and attend the pot luck luncheon at 12:00 p.m. New members are always welcome.

The December 50/50 Draw for $51.00 was won by Mary Sager. Congratulations Mary!

A Lottery Draw for the Wheelchair Accessibility Fund will be held on Saturday February 15, 2020 at the Special Dinner and Silent Auction. Tickets for the dinner will be for sale in January. Call Wayne Morningstar at 519-592-5846 or Don Colter at 519-793-3473 or Fred Van Tooren at 519-795-7823 to purchase or reserve your dinner ticket. If you have purchased a red lottery ticket, you may be the lucky winner of $1,000.00 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets will be $15.00 with Chefs Barb and Wayne Morningstar preparing a special menu with homemade cabbage rolls. Members can support this worthy cause by donating a silent auction item. Call Sharron Colter at 519-793-3473 if you can donate a silent auction item. All proceeds will be donated to the Wheelchair Accessibility Fund.

George Bowman, our membership chair thanks everyone for renewing their 2020 Legion dues. Congratulations to Bruce Hill who won the Membership Early Bird Draw for the free one year Legion membership for 2020.

Let us remember our veterans and their families. Lest we forget! Legion members are encouraged to support the activities at the legion in order to provide support to veterans, the community and youth. Recently our youth at the Lion’s Head School was given monetary awards for their Remembrance Posters, Essays and/or Poems. Thank you to Kim White for organizing the Remembrance contest at the school. Thank you to the people from the community who volunteered to be the judges. These monetary awards were provided from the Lion’s Head Legion Poppy Trust Fund.
